The Shaykh : The author said: "And they testify to Paradise for those for whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) testified, such as the ten". "They testify" means the Companions, the people of the Sunnah and the community
They testify to Paradise for those for whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) testified to Paradise.
Testifying to Paradise is of two types: testimony attached to a description, and testimony attached to a specific individual.
As for the one attached to a description, it is that we testify that every believer is in Paradise. We testify that all believers are in Paradise, right? Without specification. And all the righteous are in Paradise without specification.
This is a general testimony, and it is obligatory for us to testify to it. Why? Because Allah the Exalted informed of it, and He said:[Al-Bayyinah 98:7-8]. And He said: [Ali 'Imran 3:133]. We must testify to this because the testimony to it is a confirmation of the Qur'an.
As for the other testimony, the specific testimony for a particular person, it is not permissible for us to testify that every specific believer is among the people of Paradise, except for those for whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) testified.
We do not testify that a specific person is among the people of Paradise except for those for whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) testified, whether he testified for one specific person or for specific people in a general sense.
An example of this is when he says: "such as the ten".
The ten who were given glad tidings of Paradise were singled out or given this name because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered them in one hadith, and they are: the four caliphs: Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, and 'Ali; Sa'id ibn Zayd; Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas; 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf; Talhah ibn 'Ubayd Allah; al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awwam; and Abu 'Ubaydah 'Amir ibn al-Jarrah.
And the six who are in addition to the four caliphs were gathered in a poem. It was said about them:
"Sa'id and Sa'd and Ibn 'Awf and Talhah *** and 'Amir al-Fahr and al-Zubayr the praised"
"Sa'id and Sa'd and Ibn 'Awf and Talhah *** and 'Amir al-Fahr and al-Zubayr the praised"
Add these six to the four caliphs and they make ten.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them glad tidings in one sequence. He said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3747Sahih (Darussalam) and so on. For this reason, they were given this title, the ten. Do we have to testify that he is in Paradise? Yes, we must testify because of the testimony of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to that, and our testimony is a report, a confirmation of what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) testified to and informed about.
The author said: "and Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shamas"
Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shamas (may Allah be pleased with him) was one of the orators of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He had a loud voice, a loud voice, When the word of Allah the Exalted came down: "O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor be loud to him in speech as some of you are loud to others, so that your deeds may be rendered worthless while you do not perceive," he was afraid that his deeds might be rendered worthless while he was unaware. Allah is the Greatest! Whoever is more afraid of Allah is more knowledgeable of Allah, and he was more afraid of Him. He was afraid because he had a loud voice, he would speak and raise his voice He hid in his house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) missed him, so he sent a man to ask him about his hiding. He said: "Indeed, Allah has revealed His word: 'O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor be loud to him in speech as some of you are loud to others, so that your deeds may be rendered worthless while you do not perceive.' And I am afraid that my deeds have been rendered worthless while I am unaware." So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the messenger: "Go back to him and tell him: No. You will live a good life, you will be killed a martyr, and you will enter Paradise.". So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him glad tidings of Paradise. Look, the result of fear of Allah, look at the result, its result is safety. Whenever you fear your Lord and turn to Him and supplicate to Him, you are given glad tidings of safety. The three who were left behind, and what was the result for them? After people boycotted them and they were in a state of distress until they reached the point where people would not return their greetings, the result was that all people remember them, all people remember them until the Day of Resurrection. And where do they remember them? In the mosques and in the prayers. There is a chapter about them that is recited until the Day of Resurrection. So look at the outcome of sincerity to Allah the Mighty and Sublime and fleeing to Allah, how the outcome is good for a person in this world and the Hereafter. Who believes that these three are mentioned on the minbars and in the mihrabs and in seclusion and in the prayers, and that one draws near to Allah the Exalted by praising them? Every letter you read from the verses that were revealed about them, ten good deeds are in them. That means if someone said to you: if you praise the king, I will give you a dirham for every letter, right? When do you praise the king? All day you praise him, or not? These, when you praise them with what Allah revealed in the Qur'an, every letter has ten good deeds. This is a good fruit, its fruit is that matter that was revealed in their hearts[At-Tawbah 9:118]. Thabit ibn Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) was afraid that his deeds would be nullified while he was unaware, so he was afraid and hid in his house. So what was the price? Three things: he lived a good life, he was killed a martyr, and he entered Paradise. It is possible he did not even dream that one of these would happen to him. But all of them happened to him: he lived a good life (may Allah be pleased with him), he was killed a martyr at al-Yamamah, and we testify that he will enter Paradise... that he is among the people of Paradise [Al-Ghashiyah 88:10-16] we testify to that. Good.
The author said: "and others from the Companions"
The ten and Thabit ibn Qays make eleven, and others from the Companions, such as Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), about whom Jibril said:Sahih Muslim 2433a. And among them are the Mothers of the Believers. All the Mothers of the Believers are in Paradise because they are at the level of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And among them is Bilal, and among them is 'Abdullah ibn Salam, and among them is 'Ikamah ibn Mahsan, and among them is Sa'd ibn Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him). The important thing is that I wish one of you would volunteer to count these.
The student: It could be in a thesis on this.
The Shaykh : In a thesis? Then you verified it like this? As you wish, look for the thesis or look in the books. You have until the night session, if Allah wills, tonight is Saturday, tonight is Sunday, you have until the night session, right? If Allah wills. In the lesson, yes.
