Fasting and making up missed fasts for the sick person when Allah heals them
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I am a sick woman, and I broke my fast for some days in last Ramadan and was unable to make them up due to my illness. What is the expiation for that? Also, I will not be able to fast this year’s Ramadan. What is the expiation for that as well?
Answer: For the sick person for whom fasting is difficult, it is prescribed to break the fast, and when Allah heals him, he must make up what he owes. This is based on the saying of Allah, the Exalted: [Surat al-Baqarah: 185]. There is no blame on you, O questioner, for breaking your fast in this month as long as the illness remains, because breaking the fast is a dispensation from Allah for the sick person and the traveler. Allah, the Exalted, loves for His dispensations to be taken, just as He dislikes for His disobedience to be committed. You do not owe an expiation, but when Allah grants you health, you must make up the fasts. May Allah heal you from all evil, and may He forgive our sins and yours.

and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days
وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
