The ruling on bank mortgage installments if the deceased's heirs commit to paying them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: My father had a debt with the bank, and he passed away (may Allah have mercy on him). Is it obligatory for us to pay the full amount? Or is it according to the installments approved by the bank, such that his liability is thereby discharged?

Answer: It is not obligatory to expedite the repayment if the heirs or others commit to paying it at its due times, in a manner that poses no risk to the creditor; because the deferred time is a right of the deceased that his heirs inherit, and there is no blame on the deceased in that, if Allah wills; because a deferred debt is not obligatory to repay except at its due time, and the heirs take the place of the deceased if they commit to it, or if others commit to it in a manner that poses no risk to the creditor, as we mentioned earlier.
