What is said to the husband when contracting the marriage of his wife?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then it is said to the husband: "May Allah bless you both and join you together in goodness." The moderns say what the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance used to say: "With prosperity and children." We ask Allah not to blind our hearts. The phrase from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is "Goodness and blessing," and we deviate from it to "prosperity and children." Perhaps this will not be prosperity; perhaps there will be more discord between the husband and wife than prosperity. Then, as for the children, the girls are poor souls; the daughter may be far better than the son. The important thing is that deviating from what the Sunnah brought, to what was the practice of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, is an element of ignorance. Say: "May Allah bless you both and join you together in goodness."
