The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, regarding what he quoted from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:Sahih Muslim 1318d meaning: on a military expedition, and he said: Riyad as-Salihin 1342 And in another wording: Sunan Ibn Majah 2765Sahih (Darussalam), and likewise the hadith of al-Bukhari from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) is similar to this hadith.
In this is evidence that if a person intends a righteous deed, but something prevents him from doing it, he is written the reward; he is written the reward of what he intended. However, if he used to do it when he was able, and then became unable to do it afterwards, he is written the full reward of the deed, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:. So the one who desires good and is eager for it, if it is his habit to do it, but something prevents him from doing it, he is written its full reward. For example, if a person’s habit is to pray with the congregation in the mosque, but something prevents him, such as sleep or illness or the like, he is written the reward of the one who prays with the congregation exactly, without any reduction. Likewise, if it is his habit to pray voluntary prayers, but something prevents him from doing so and he is unable to do it, he is written its full reward. Likewise, if it is his habit to fast three days every month, and then he becomes unable to do so and something prevents him, he is written the full reward. But if it is not his habit to do it, he is written only the reward of the intention, not the reward of the deed. And the evidence for that is: , and He did not say to them: “You have caught up with the reward of their deeds,” but there is no doubt that they have the reward of the intention of the deed. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned, regarding the one to whom Allah gave wealth and he spends it in the ways of good, and a poor man said: “If I had the wealth of so-and-so, I would do in it like the deed of so-and-so,” the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4228Sahih, Sahih (Darussalam) As for the deed, its reward is not written for him unless it is his habit to do it. And in this hadith is an indication that the one who goes out in the path of Allah in the expedition and jihad in the path of Allah has the reward of the one who participated. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and indicating this is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [At-Tawbah 9:120-121].
Similar to this is that if a man performs wudu' in his house and perfects the wudu', then he goes out to the mosque, and nothing takes him out except the prayer, he does not take a step except that Allah raises him thereby a degree and removes from him thereby a sin. And this is from the favor of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that the means to the deed have this reward which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) specified. And success is from Allah.
There is no deity but Allah alone, having no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things competent. O Allah, there is no one who can prevent what You have given, and there is no one who can give what You have prevented, and the wealth of the wealthy does not benefit him against You.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, regarding what he quoted from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: We joined Allah's Apostle (may pea, @. e be upon him) in Hajj and Umra and seven persons shared in the sacrifice of an animal. A person said to Jabir (Allah be pleased with him): Can seven persons share in the sacrifice of al-Badnah (a camel) as he shares in al- Jazur (a cow)? He, (Jabir) said: It (al-Jazur) is nothing but one among the budun. Jabir was present at Hudaibiya and he said: We sacrificed on that day seventy camel, and seven men shared in each sacrifice (of camel).
Some people have remained behind us in Al-Madinah, and we never cross a valley but they are with us.
إن بالمدينة لأقوامًا ما سرتم مسيرا ، ولا قطعتم واديا ، إلا وهم معكم حبسهم المرضthey shared with you in the reward
In this is evidence that if a person intends a righteous deed, but something prevents him from doing it, he is written the reward; he is written the reward of what he intended. However, if he used to do it when he was able, and then became unable to do it afterwards, he is written the full reward of the deed, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever is ill or travels, it is written for him what he used to do while healthy and resident.
The poor among the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah, the people of wealth have outpaced us in rewards and permanent bliss—meaning that the people of wealth have outpaced us in charity and freeing slaves—so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of something that, if you do it, you will catch up with those who have outpaced you, and no one will catch up with you except one who does what you do? He said: You glorify, magnify, and praise Allah after every prayer thirty-three times. So they did it, and the rich people learned of it, so they did what they did. Then the poor people came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, our brothers, the people of wealth, heard what we did, so they did the same. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That is the favor of Allah, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the Owner of great favor.
They will be equal in reward
Whenever you travel a distance or cross a valley or take a path, they are with you
That is because they are not afflicted by thirst or fatigue or hunger in the cause of Allah, nor do they tread on any ground that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they inflict upon an enemy any infliction but that is registered for them as a righteous deed. Indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of the doers of good. (121) Nor do they spend an expenditure, small or large, or cross a valley but that it is registered for them that Allah may reward them for the best of what they were doing.
