The reciter: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted:
"From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A prophet from among the prophets (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon them) went on an expedition. He said to his people: "No man who has taken a wife and intends to build a family with her, but has not yet done so, shall follow me. No one who has built houses but has not yet raised their roofs shall follow me. No one who has bought sheep or camels and is waiting for their offspring shall follow me." So he went on the expedition and approached the village at the time of the 'Asr prayer, or near that time. He said to the sun: "You are commanded, and I am commanded. O Allah, hold it back for us." So it was held back until Allah granted him victory. He gathered the war spoils, and then the fire came to consume them, but it did not consume them. He said: "There is theft among you. Let a man from every tribe pledge allegiance to me." So the hand of a man stuck to his hand. He said: "There is theft among you. Let your tribe pledge allegiance to me." So the hands of two or three men stuck to his hand. He said: "There is theft among you." So they brought a lump of gold the size of a cow's head. He placed it, and the fire came and consumed it. The war spoils were not made lawful for anyone before us, then Allah made the war spoils lawful for us when He saw our weakness and inability, so He made them lawful for us.
غزا نبي من الأنبياء صلوات الله وسلامه عليهم ، فقال لقومه : لا يتبعني رجل ملك بُضع امرأة وهو يريد أن يبني بها ولما بين بها ، ولا أحد بنى بيوتاً لم يرفع سقوفَها ، ولا أحد اشترى غنما أو خَلِفات وهو ينتظر أولادها ، فغزا فدنا من القرية صلاة العصر أو قريباً من ذلك ، فقال للشمس : إنك مأمورة وأنا مأمور ، اللهم احبسها علينا فحُبست حتى فتح الله عليه ، فجمع الغنائم ، فجاءت يعني النار لتأكلها فلم تَطعَمها ، فقال : إن فيكم غُلولاً ، فليبايعني من كل قبيلة رجل ، فلزقت يد رجل بيده فقال : فيكم الغلول فليبايعني قبيلتك ، فلزمت يد رجلين أو ثلاثة يده فقال : فيكم الغلول فجاءوا برأس مثل رأس بقرة من الذهب ، فوضعها فجاءت النار فأكلتها ، فلم تحل الغنائم لأحد قبلنا ، ثم أحل الله لنا الغنائم لما رأى ضعفنا وعجزنا فأحلها لنا
