Explanation of the hadith: "If you were to place your complete trust in Allah, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds, which go out in the morning hungry and return in the evening with full bellies."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in the hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If you were to put your trust in Allah as you should, you would be given provision like the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening. لو أنكم توكلون على الله حق توكله لرزقكم كما يرزق الطير تغدو خماصا وتروح بطانا
Musnad Ahmad 205[lts isnad is qawi] (Darussalam)
The meaning of "tad'u" (go out) is "taghdu," which means to go out in the morning, in the early hours. "Khamasa" means having empty bellies. "Taruḥ" means to come in the evening, at the end of the day. "Batanan" means having full bellies. This is because the birds do not stay in their nests saying, "My provision will come to me." They fly in the air and on the ground seeking provision, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) provides for them.
