Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The Chapter of Advice" Advice is offering sincere counsel to others. Sincere counsel means that a person loves good for his brother, invites him to it, explains it to him, and encourages him to embrace it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made religion itself advice, saying:
The religion is sincere advice
three times.
They said: 'To whom, O Messenger of Allah?' he said: 'To Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, to the imams of the Muslims, and to their common folk
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4197Sahih (Darussalam)
The opposite of advice is deceit, fraud, betrayal, and trickery. The author began this chapter with three verses. The first verse is the statement of Allah the Exalted:
The believers are but brothers
[Al-Hujurat 49:10]
Once this statement is established among the believers, meaning if they truly realize it and possess this quality, then this brotherhood must necessarily bear fruit in the form of advice. It is obligatory for the believers to be as Allah the Mighty and Majestic said, that they should be brothers:
The believers are but brothers
[Al-Hujurat 49:10]
They are brothers in religion, and brotherhood in religion is stronger than brotherhood in lineage. In fact, brotherhood in lineage without religion is of no value. For this reason, Allah the Mighty and Majestic said to Noah when he said:
indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true
[Hud 11:45]
Allah the Exalted said:
indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous
[Hud 11:46]
As for the believers, even if their regions are far apart and their languages differ, they are brothers regardless of the circumstances. A brother must be an advisor to his brother, showing him the good, explaining it to him, and calling him to it. As for the second verse: it is the statement of Noah, who was the first of the messengers:
And I advise you وَأَنْصَحُ لَكُمْ
He said this to his people when he called them to Allah the Mighty and Majestic. He said to them:
and advise you; and I know from Allah what you do not know.
[Al-A'raf 7:62]
