The Shaykh : In this hadith, there are lessons:
First: One of the houses of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and one of his most noble houses, in which was his most beloved of women, had nothing in it but a single date. And now, in our country, when a person eats, five types of food are served to him, four of which are varied. Why has the world been opened up to us and closed to them? Is it because we are more beloved to Allah than they are? No, by Allah, they are more beloved to Allah than we are. But Allah grants His favor to whom He wills. We have been tested with these blessings, so these blessings have become, for many people today, a cause of evil, corruption, arrogance, and ingratitude, until they committed open sinfulness, may Allah protect us from that. And we fear the punishment of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for us, because many of us have been arrogant with these blessings and been ungrateful for them, and have made them a means to the sins of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). We ask Allah for safety.
Second: It also contains what the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were upon regarding self-preference (ithar). Aisha had nothing but a date, yet she preferred this poor woman with it. And now, we have much wealth, and when a beggar comes, we turn him away.
But our true trial is in turning away the beggar, because many of the beggars are liars. One asks while being richer than the one asked. How many people ask and ask people, and if you look into their situation, when they die you find with them coins, a lot of silver, red gold, and many papers of money! This is what makes a person not feel encouraged to give to every beggar, because of the lying and deception. They appear in the guise of the disabled, in the guise of the insane, in the guise of the poor, while they are liars.
And in this, there is also a lesson that among the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) there was the poor as well as the rich. Allah the Exalted said:[Az-Zukhruf 43:32] : And were it not for this difference, we would not have taken each other as a mockery. If we were all on the same level, if a person needed, for example, work, for building, he would come to another and say: I want you to build a house for me. He would say: I will not build, I am like you, I am rich. If we wanted a door made for us, he would say: I will not make it, I am rich like you. But this difference made people serve one another.
"People are for people, from nomads and towns *** Some for others, even if they do not know, servants"
Even the merchant serves the poor. The rich merchant with billions serves the poor. How? He brings in food, drinks, clothes, building materials, and other things. He brings them for the poor to benefit from them. All people are for one another, serving one another, a wisdom from Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And in this hadith is also evidence of the virtue of one who treats daughters well with money, clothing, a good mood, and consideration for themselves, because they are incapable and lacking.
And in it is what we mentioned first, that those who are obligated to spend and do spend are the men, while women are for the houses and the interests of the houses, and also for interests that women do not undertake, such as girls' schools.
As for making them employees with men in one office, or secretaries as exists in many Muslim countries, then this is undoubtedly a great error and a great evil. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 678Sahih (Al-Albani) : Because the front of them is close to the men, so it became evil. Look how it is recommended for the woman to be behind and far from the imam. All of that is for the sake of distance from the men. We ask Allah to protect us and our Muslim brothers from the causes of His anger and punishment.
