What is the ruling on one who says to his family, "You are Jews or Christians"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : As for the one who curses his family and children, saying, "You are Jews and Christians, and the like," what is his ruling?

The Shaykh : This person who speaks to his family in this manner, saying, "You are Jews or Christians," may Allah protect us from that, is to be feared that he himself is the Jew or the Christian. This is because whoever calls his brother by a sin that he has not committed, it returns upon him. That is to say, if a person says to someone, "O disbeliever," and he is not a disbeliever, then the speaker becomes the disbeliever. If he says to a person, "O Jew," and he is a Muslim, then the speaker becomes the Jew or the Christian. There is no doubt that this is a fool, a foolish person who is deficient in his intellect and astray in his religion. The family should be the most deserving of people to be raised and cared for. If he accustoms them to this action and this vile character, they will become like what he was. And he will bear the sin of them, living and dead, may Allah protect us from that.
