And as for the hadith of 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with them both), it states: Four traits, if they are in a person, make him a pure hypocrite

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And as for the hadith of 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with them both), it states:
Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up. أربعٌ من كنّ فيه كان منافقًا خالصًا، ومن كانت فيه خصلة منهن كانت فيه خصلة من النفاق حتى يدعها
Sahih al-Bukhari 34
: The meaning is that these four traits do not coexist except in a pure hypocrite. Although a believer may commit one of them, he does not become a pure hypocrite; rather, he has a trait of hypocrisy until he abandons it. And Allah is the One who grants success.
