Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Qabisa ibn 'Uqbah narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us from al-A'mash from 'Abdullah ibn Murrah from Masruq from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up. 1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays. 2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous. 4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner. أربع من كن فيه كان منافقًا خالصًا ومن كانت فيه خصلة منهن كانت فيه خصلة من النفاق حتى يدعها : إذا اؤتمن خان ، وإذا حدث كذب ، وإذا عاهد غدر ، وإذا خاصم فجر
Sahih al-Bukhari 34
Shu'bah followed him from al-A'mash.

The Shaykh : Yes. The chapter on the sign of the hypocrite. "Hypocrite" is an active participle from "to be a hypocrite," and its root, meaning its derivation, is from the "nafaqah" of the jerboa, meaning its burrow. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) inspired the jerboa to make a door for its burrow through which it enters, and at its far end, a closed door that no one knows about except it, a thin layer of earth. So if someone attacks it from the main door, yes, it exits from the side door it prepared for that, thereby deceiving, because the attacker at the door thinks that it will exit from the same door, from the same door, but it surprised him by making another door for itself. This is the hypocrite:
They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves يخادعون الله والذين آمنوا وما يخدعون إلا أنفسهم
[Al-Baqarah 2:9]
.
Some scholars said: It is an Islamic name that was not known before, meaning it is not in the dictionary of the Arabic language before Islam named it as such, applying the term "hypocrite" to one who displays Islam and conceals disbelief and hypocrisy.
We stop here, if Allah wills, until tomorrow.
