Question:
Which of the two verses abrogates the other: the saying of the Exalted:
Not lawful to you, [O Muhammad], are [any additional] women afterلَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ النِّسَاءُ مِنْ بَعْدُ
[Al-Ahzab 33:52]
.. [Al-Ahzab:52], and the saying of the Exalted:
You, [O Muhammad], may put aside whom you will of themتُرْجِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْهُنَّ
[Al-Ahzab 33:51]
.. [Al-Ahzab:51]?

Answer:
There is no contradiction between them. He delays whom He wills and releases whom He wills. Allah forbade him women after the nine who were with him, but Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that it was permitted for him after that.
Q: And what is the stronger position?
A: Allah knows best.
