The Ruling on Drinking Beer and the Like
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling on drinking beer? And likewise, what about similar beverages?
Answer: If the beer is free from anything that causes intoxication, there is no harm in it. However, if it contains any of the substance of intoxication, it is not permissible to drink it. Likewise, regarding the rest of intoxicants—whether they are drunk or eaten—one must be cautious of them, and it is not permissible to drink or eat any of them. This is based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) : [Al-Ma'idah: 90-91].
And based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:Sahih Muslim 2003b, which Imam Muslim recorded in his Sahih. It is also established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that: Sunan al-Bayhaqi 16:11, as it is authentic from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sahih al-Bukhari 242, and it is also authentic from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he Sunan Abi Dawud 3686Da'if (Al-Albani).
Therefore, it is obligatory for all Muslims to be cautious of all intoxicants and to warn against them. And whoever does any of that must abandon it and hasten to repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) from it. As He (Mighty and Majestic) said: [An-Nur: 31], and He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: [At-Tahrim: 8].

O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
And based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
Every intoxicant is Khamr and every intoxicant is forbidden.
He cursed the khamr (intoxicants), its drinker, its server, its presser, its one who presses it, its carrier, the one to whom it is carried, its seller, its buyer, and the one who eats its price.

كل شراب أسكر فهو حرامforbade every intoxicant and everything which produces languidness
Therefore, it is obligatory for all Muslims to be cautious of all intoxicants and to warn against them. And whoever does any of that must abandon it and hasten to repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) from it. As He (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance.
