Question:
The questioner, brother A. S. S. from Riyadh, says in his question: I sought to reconcile two disputing parties, but they did not reconcile. After a while, one of them filed a complaint against the other with the judge, and he came to me wanting me to testify with him based on what I knew of their matter. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this? That is, is it permissible for me to testify to what I heard from them during the effort to reconcile? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you.
Answer:
It is obligatory for you to testify to what you know if you are asked to testify; because of the saying of Allah, the Exalted: [Surat al-Baqarah: 283]. And success is from Allah.

And do not conceal testimony, for whoever conceals it - his heart is indeed sinful, and Allah is Knowing of what you do.
