The Means of Achieving Sincerity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner: Your Eminence, Satan has caused me much distress in achieving sincerity in my words and actions. Please guide us to the means that help in achieving sincerity for Allah in words and actions. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Your Lord has guided you by His saying, Exalted and Majestic is He:
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allahوَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ
[Al-A'raf: 200], and by His saying, Exalted and Majestic is He:
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy.إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ فَاتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّا
[Fatir: 6]. So you must seek refuge in Allah from this enemy by saying: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan." If the whispers become frequent, blow to your left three times and say: "I seek refuge in Allah from Satan" three times. And be glad of good and health. Be sincere with Allah in seeking refuge, and be glad of good.
If the whispering is about the Lord, or about Paradise or the Fire, say along with seeking refuge: "I believe in Allah and His messengers," "I believe in Allah and His messengers," "I believe in Allah and His messengers," and "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan." Increase in this, because when the Companions complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the whispers they were finding, he ordered them to seek refuge in Allah from Satan and to say, when the whispers concerned the Lord, the Hereafter, Paradise, the Fire, and the like: "I believe in Allah and His messengers," "I believe in Allah and His messengers," and to seek refuge in Allah. Then it will end and depart from them, and these whispers by which the enemy of Allah tests them will vanish from them. This is one of his schemes.
