Question:
The first message in this episode is from one of our brother listeners. He begins by saying: I am the young Muslim Salah al-Din al-Shabib from the Syrian Arab Republic. My brother has a collection of questions, among which is one that asks: Can a sorcerer actually communicate with the devils as he claims, and thereby change what the conscious Muslim person, who memorizes a large portion of the Qur'an, desires, through these devils? If that is possible, what is it incumbent upon the person to do if he is afflicted with sorcery? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon whoever follows his guidance. As for what follows:
Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) clarified in His great Book, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) also clarified, that sorcery exists, that sorcerers exist, and that the devils are the teachers; they are the ones who teach them sorcery. The devils, the devils of the jinn, are the ones who teach the devils of mankind sorcery. Sorcery is done through devilish incantations, devilly amulets, knots, and spitting, as the Exalted said: [al-Falaq:4], meaning: the sorceresses who spit into knots with misguided, erroneous words, intending thereby to harm the one who is bewitched.
It also occurs through illusion, as the Exalted said: [Ta-Ha:66]. They make it appear to people that the rope is a snake, the staff is a snake, the dog is of another kind, the cat is of another kind, and so on. The common people call this "tadhmir," meaning they cast a spell on the eyes, as He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: [al-A'raf:116]. And they bewitched the eyes of the people, meaning: they confused them until a person would look at a thing and see it as other than what it is, and think it is something other than what is known, due to the confusion that clouded the eye. Thus, people thought that the ropes and staffs, because of the sorcerers of Pharaoh, were snakes, and they believed them to be snakes.
The sorcerer receives from the devils. The Exalted said: [al-Baqarah:102].
Thus, He (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified, then He said: [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: and they teach them what was revealed to the two angels [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: the two angels Harut and Marut [al-Baqarah:102], to the learner, they say to the learner, [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: that people are tested with the two angels, so do not disbelieve by practicing sorcery. This indicates that practicing sorcery is disbelief after faith, and apostasy after Islam, if one is a Muslim; because one does not reach it except by worshipping the devils, drawing near to them through slaughter, vows, calling for aid, prostrating to them, and the like.
Thus, the sorcerer becomes a disbeliever and an apostate; because he engages with the devils in what is the right of Allah in worship. For this reason, He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: they advise him until they say to him: [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: from Harut and Marut.
[al-Baqarah:102], meaning: they learn from the two angels things of sorcery that confuse the husband and the wife, until the husband believes that the woman is not his wife, that her state has become ugly, and that her condition has changed, until he hates her and divorces her. And likewise, the woman is confused... confused, and her eye is bewitched regarding her husband, until she imagines that he is not her husband, that his appearance has changed, and that his condition has changed; so she rejects him, rejects him, and seeks separation.
The Exalted said: [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: sorcery does not occur except by the permission of Allah, meaning: by the cosmic, decreed permission of Allah, not the legislative permission; because Allah, Glorified is He, has not permitted it legislatively, but rather He has forbidden it and warned against it. However, it occurs by His cosmic, decreed permission. Everything is by His decree: disbelief and faith, sorcery, killing, eating and drinking, death, and life are all by decree, all by the decreed permission of Allah. For this reason, He, Glorified is He, said: [Al-Baqarah 2:102].
Then He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [al-Baqarah:102]. This indicates that sorcery harms and does not benefit, and the harm is upon both the sorcerer and the one who is bewitched, and that its evil is great. Allah decreed it for a profound wisdom, as a trial and a test.
Then He, Glorified is He, said: [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: they were displeased with [Al-Baqarah 2:102], meaning: from a share, and a portion, [Al-Baqarah 2:102], meaning: they sold. "Shara" means sold. [Al-Baqarah 2:102], meaning: they sold themselves to the devil. [al-Baqarah:102]. Then He, Glorified is He, said: [al-Baqarah:103].
This indicates that sorcery is the opposite of faith and mindfulness of Allah, and the opposite of the Hereafter. So it is obligatory for every person to beware of it. It is obligatory for every Muslim to beware of sorcery, and to distance himself from it, from its causes, and from its people. It is possible for the believer to seek refuge in Allah from the evil of sorcerers, and to distance himself from them by holding fast to the rope of Allah, being upright upon the religion of Allah, not inclining to them, and not learning from them. He should protect himself from that through the prescribed things: such as Ayat al-Kursi at sleep, and after every prayer, and such as: [al-Ikhlas:1] and [al-Falaq:1] and [al-Nas:1] after every prayer, and after Maghrib and Fajr three times, and at sleep three times. All of this is among the causes of safety from sorcery.
And likewise, his saying:Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) This is also among the causes, among the causes of well-being. So the believer protects himself from every evil by what Allah has prescribed, and from that sorcery; for it is a great evil, and its danger is great.
So it is obligatory upon the believer to beware of every evil, and to engage in the causes that Allah has made causes of safety, and to know that the matter is in the hand of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) . So no sorcerer, nor anyone else, will harm you except by the permission of Allah. So turn to Allah, be upright upon His religion, and adhere to the prescribed seeking of refuge and the prescribed causes. By that, you will be safe, by the permission of Allah, and the sorcerers and the devils will not harm you.
And among the causes of safety:Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) three times, in the morning and in the evening, Sunan Ibn Majah 3869 three times, in the morning and in the evening. These are among the causes of safety from every evil. I repeat them: Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) three times, in the morning and in the evening, among the causes of well-being from every bad.
A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: A scorpion stung me last night. So he said:Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2708a And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: .
This is a blessing from Allah (may He be exalted) . So you, O servant of Allah, must strive in the prescribed seeking of refuge and the established causes, and by that you will be safe from the evil of your enemies, and the schemes of your enemies from the devils, and from the sorcerers, and from others. And Allah, Glorified is He, says: [al-Nisa:71]. So you are commanded to take caution from every bad, from what harms you in this world, and from what harms you in the Hereafter, through the prescribed precautions and the established causes, in all circumstances. Yes.

And from the evil of the blowers in knots
It also occurs through illusion, as the Exalted said:
seemed to him from their magic that they were moving
يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَىand when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic.
The sorcerer receives from the devils. The Exalted said:
And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic
Thus, He (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified, then He said:
that which was revealed to the two angels
وَمَا أُنزِلَ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِat Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone
We are a trial, so do not disbelieve
Thus, the sorcerer becomes a disbeliever and an apostate; because he engages with the devils in what is the right of Allah in worship. For this reason, He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say
We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them
إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلا تَكْفُرْ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَاthat by which they cause separation between a man and his wife
The Exalted said:
But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah.
But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah.
Then He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them
Then He, Glorified is He, said:
But the Children of Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا لَمَنِ اشْتَرَاهُwould not have in the Hereafter any share
And wretched is that for which they sold themselves
And wretched is that for which they sold themselves
وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا بِهِ أَنفُسَهُمْif they only knew.
And if they had believed and feared Allah, then the reward from Allah would have been [far] better, if they only knew.
This indicates that sorcery is the opposite of faith and mindfulness of Allah, and the opposite of the Hereafter. Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
And likewise, his saying:
I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created
So it is obligatory upon the believer to beware of every evil, and to engage in the causes that Allah has made causes of safety, and to know that the matter is in the hand of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) . I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created

I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created
A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: A scorpion stung me last night. So he said:
Oh, had you said in the evening: "I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created," nothing would have harmed you
When anyone lands at a place, and then says:" I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah from the evil of what He has created," nothing would harm him until he marches from that stopping place.
Whoever says: In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, three times in the morning; nothing will harm him until evening, and if he says it in the evening; nothing will harm him until morning
This is a blessing from Allah (may He be exalted) . So you, O servant of Allah, must strive in the prescribed seeking of refuge and the established causes, and by that you will be safe from the evil of your enemies, and the schemes of your enemies from the devils, and from the sorcerers, and from others. And Allah, Glorified is He, says:
O you who have believed, take your precaution
