The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths in the Book of Clothing, "from Wahb ibn 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah, at al-Abtah, in a red tent made of leather. Bilal came out with his ablution water, and I was the one who drew the water and gave it to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out wearing a red robe, and I could see the whiteness of his legs. He performed ablution, and Bilal called the adhan. I followed his mouth as he said, to the right and to the left, 'Hasten to prayer, hasten to success.' I planted a spear for him, and he stepped forward and prayed. Dogs and donkeys would pass in front of him without being prevented. It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And from Rafi'ah al-Tamimi (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing two green garments. It was narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi with a sound chain. And from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered on the day of the Conquest of Makkah wearing a black turban. It was narrated by Muslim".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
These are hadiths mentioned by al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) in Riyadh al-Saliheen in the Book of Clothing. Some of these hadiths were mentioned previously, and in our lesson today is the hadith of Wahb ibn 'Abd Allah al-Su'awi, Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a red tent made of leather, or made of leather, but the correct wording is "made of leather," and that was at al-Abtah during the Farewell Pilgrimage. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) arrived in Makkah for the Farewell Pilgrimage in the tenth year of the Hijrah, he arrived on the morning of Sunday, the fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah. He descended to the Sacred Mosque, performed tawaf and sa'y, then went out to al-Abtah and stayed there until the next day. He was in this tent that was set up for him (peace and blessings be upon him). He said, "He came out," meaning when the sun had passed its zenith. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out wearing a red garment, and one could see the whiteness of his legs from beneath it. This red garment means that its patterns were red, not black or green, because it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing pure red. So this is understood to mean that its patterns, i.e., its lines and designs, were red. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came out with the ablution water of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning with what remained of the water he had used for ablution, and people took from it, some drawing water and some receiving it, meaning some took a lot and some took a little, seeking blessing from the leftover ablution water of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out of this tent, and Bilal called the adhan. Then the spear was planted for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The spear is a lance with a sharp iron tip; it is a lance with a sharp iron point. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to carry it with him on travels. The spear was planted so that he could pray facing it, because when a person is traveling, it is recommended that he pray facing something upright, such as a stick planted in the ground or something similar.
