What is your opinion of one who performs the sacrifice for a newborn on his own behalf while he is an adult?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... children. We slaughtered the sacrifice for a newborn, and I have children with me.

The Shaykh : You have children? What do you mean?

The questioner: I mean, children came to me.
The student: He performed the sacrifice for a newborn on his own behalf while he has children with him.

The questioner: He is old in age... I slaughtered the sacrifice for a newborn, and I slaughtered for my mother. My mother asked for it, and after that... she asked for the sacrifice for a newborn, so we slaughtered it for her.

The Shaykh: This is also a recommended practice that has been abandoned more than the sacrifice for a newborn. If a young man learns from his father that he did not perform the sacrifice for a newborn for him, and his father has passed away to the mercy of Allah, then it is a recommended practice for him to perform the sacrifice for a newborn on his own behalf, following the example of his Prophet (peace be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) received the prophethood, he performed the sacrifice for a newborn on his own behalf. If a Muslim performs the sacrifice for a newborn on his own behalf, he has the example of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). This is the reality. These are recommended practices that are not known in most Islamic countries; they have become forgotten.
