The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the command to review the Qur'an and the warning against exposing it to being forgotten:
It was narrated from Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 791 Agreed upon.
And it was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 789a Agreed upon".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author al-Nawawi -may Allah have mercy on him- said in the book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on the command to review the Qur'an and the warning against exposing it to being forgotten": This means that if Allah grants you the favor of memorizing the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic is He, then review it. If Allah grants you the favor of memorizing it, then review it. This is because the Noble Qur'an, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) likened it to tethered camels, meaning tethered camels: if a person reviews it, he holds onto it, and if he lets it go, it is lost. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) swore an oath regarding this when he said, as in the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him):Sahih Muslim 791: You should set aside a specific portion to review every day. For example, you say: I will read one part every day, so you memorize the Qur'an in a month; or two parts, so you memorize it in fifteen days; or three parts, so you memorize it in ten days, up to seven days, up to three days. Review it so that you do not forget it. Hadiths have been transmitted warning against forgetting it for those who neglect it. As for one who forgets it due to the nature of human memory, that does not harm him. But one who neglects it and pays no attention to it after Allah has bestowed upon him the favor of memorizing it, he is to be feared regarding punishment.
So, my brother, if Allah grants you the favor of the Qur'an, review it by reading it, by repeating the recitation. And also by acting upon it, because acting upon something leads to its preservation and retention. For this reason, some scholars said: "Knowledge is bound by acting upon it, for acting upon knowledge necessitates its preservation", because it remains in your heart and on your limbs. If it becomes like this, it remains and is not forgotten. But if it is neglected, it is lost. It is recommended for one who reads the Qur'an to read it with reflection and deliberation, and it is not permissible for him to rush with a speed that causes the omission of some letters, because if he omits some letters, he has changed the words of Allah from their place and distorted them. As for haste that does not necessitate the omission of letters, there is no harm in it. And success is from Allah.

The example of a man who has memorised the Qur'an is like that of a hobbled camel. If he remained vigilant, he would be able to retain it (with him), and if he loosened the hobbled camel it would escape.
