The Shaykh : On the first day of 'Arafah, then the devils carried him until he caught up with the people at 'Arafah. This has been the case for a long time; they are playing with people's minds. These are devils. And even if they do this thing, they have no karamah (a miracle granted to a righteous person). The scholars have written extensively on karamah and humiliation. Among the best books written is *Al-Furqan bayna Awliya' al-Rahman wa Awliya' al-Shaytan* (The Criterion Between the Friends of the Merciful and the Friends of Satan) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). In it, he mentions many things regarding the karamah of the awliya (close friends of Allah) and other things regarding the humiliation of the enemies. It is mentioned that Musaylimah the Liar, who emerged in al-Yamamah in al-'Aridh in Riyadh and claimed to be a prophet, was approached by a group of people who said to him: "We have a well whose water has dried up, and only a little remains. We asked him to come to it so that he would seek blessing from it", just as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), when they complained to him of a shortage of water, Allah would make it easy through his hands (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) for water to gush forth from under his fingers. "So they came to Musaylimah the Liar and said: 'The well's water has dried up and only a little remains in it.' He came to the well, and they say that he spat a mouthful of water into this well. When he spat the water into it, the water that was in it dried up". They expected the water to boil over, increase, and rise. So Allah the Exalted and Majestic showed them a sign to refute this man. There is no doubt that this is a matter that transcends the norm; it is not the norm for a person to spit water into a well that has only a little water in it and then for that water to dry up. This is contrary to the norm. But Allah made it happen as a humiliation for him. In any case, if you see something from a person that transcends the norm, if he is a believer, pious, and known for righteousness and uprightness, then this is from the karamah of the awliya. And if he is not so, then it is a satanic state from the devils, or sorcery that bewitches people's eyes, because sorcery can bewitch the eyes until one sees the moving as still and the still as moving. So there were the sorcerers of Pharaoh who threw ropes, ordinary ropes, and sticks on the ground, and then they bewitched the eyes of the people until they made the whole valley snakes and vipers, until Musa (peace be upon him) felt fear in his heart. So Allah the Exalted commanded him to throw his staff, and he threw his staff, and behold, it was a clear serpent: a great snake. It began to walk over these ropes and sticks, swallowing them and destroying them. So they knew that he was truthful, because he swallowed all their sorcery: [Al-A'raf 7:117].
So the result is that this canopy that occurred for this reciter who was reciting Surat al-Kahf is a karamah for him, and it is a testimony from Allah the Exalted and Majestic in reality that this Qur'an is true. The tranquility descends for its recitation and recitation. We ask Allah the Exalted to benefit us and you with it, and to make it an argument for us and a guide for us to the Gardens of Delight.
and at once it devoured what they were falsifying.
