The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He said, may Allah have mercy on him: "Chapter on the virtue of knowledge, both learning it and teaching it for the sake of Allah. Allah the Exalted said:
Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge. إنما يخشى الله من عباده العلماء
[Fatir 35:28]
Narrated by Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When Allah wishes good for anyone, He bestows upon him the Fiqh (comprehension) of the religion.” قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من يرد الله به خيرا يفقهه في الدين
Bulugh al-Maram 16:86

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, cited in his book *Riyad al-Salihin* what relates to, or some of what relates to, the Book of Allah the Glorious and Exalted regarding the virtue of knowledge. We have previously discussed three verses from those he mentioned in the chapter on the virtue of knowledge, both learning it and teaching it for the sake of Allah. As for the fourth verse, it is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge. إنما يخشى الله من عباده العلماء
[Fatir 35:28]
Khushu' (fear) is fear accompanied by magnification. It is more specific than fear; every instance of khushu' is fear, but not every instance of fear is khushu'. For this reason, a person fears a lion but does not have khushu' for it. As for Allah the Glorious and Exalted, a person fears Him and has khushu' for Him. Allah the Exalted said:
So do not fear the people but fear Me فلا تخشوا الناس واخشون
[Al-Ma'idah 5:44]
But who are the true people of khushu'? The true people of khushu' are the scholars: scholars of Allah, His names, His attributes, His actions, and His rulings. They know what belongs to Allah the Glorious and Exalted in terms of wisdom and secrets in His decrees and His legislations, (Exalted and Majestic is He), and that He, Blessed and Exalted is He, is perfect in every respect. There is no deficiency in His actions and no deficiency in His rulings. Therefore, they fear Allah the Glorious and Exalted. In this is evidence of the virtue of knowledge and that it is among the causes of the fear of Allah. When a person is granted success in having khushu', he is protected from sins. And if he does sin, he seeks forgiveness and repents to Allah the Glorious and Exalted, because he fears Allah, he fears Him, and he magnifies Him.
