Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {Only those of His servants who have knowledge fear Allah}
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the exegesis of the saying of Allah—Blessed and Exalted is He—I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed: [Fatir: 28].
Answer:
This great verse contains great praise for the people of knowledge of Allah and His religion. At their head are the messengers and the prophets (peace and blessings be upon them), who are the leaders of the scholars and the heads of the scholars. Then come the scholars of the Shari'ah of Allah after the prophets and messengers; they are the successors of the messengers, and they are the people of complete fear of Allah.
The meaning is: Only the scholars of Allah, His religion, His names and attributes, His right over His servants, the perfection of His power, and the perfection of His knowledge fear Allah with complete fear. It does not mean that fear is denied to other than the scholars. Every Muslim fears Allah; every Muslim man and woman fears Allah.
But fear varies. Whoever is more knowledgeable of Allah, his fear becomes greater, more magnificent, and more complete. The messengers are the most complete of people in fear, and the most complete and best of them is our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It is authentic that he said (peace and blessings be upon him):Mishkat al-Masabih 145Muttafaqun 'alayh (Zubair `Aliza'i) (peace and blessings be upon him).
All the messengers are the most fearful of people of Allah, and the prophets likewise. Then come the scholars of Allah and His religion, and they vary in their fear of Allah according to their knowledge and their mindfulness of Allah . Then come the people of faith other than the people of knowledge in their fear of Allah . So every Muslim has his share in the fear of Allah, and every Muslim woman likewise, but the variation in fear is according to knowledge of Allah and His religion. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
