All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the virtue of gatherings for dhikr: "From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:Riyad as-Salihin 1450 Narrated by Muslim".

This hadith indicates the virtue of gathering to remember Allah (Mighty and Majestic). This is what Abu Sa'id al-Khudri narrated from Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came out to a gathering in the mosque and asked them what they had gathered for. They said, "We remember Allah." He (may Allah be pleased with him) made them swear that they did not intend anything else, and they swore to him. Then he said to them: "I did not make you swear out of suspicion of you, but I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) come out to a group of people" and mentioned something similar. This indicates the virtue of this dhikr and this gathering to remember Allah, and that Allah the Exalted takes pride in them before the angels, saying, for example, "Look at My servants who have gathered to remember Me," and the like of that which involves taking pride. However, as we have mentioned before, this gathering is not for them to gather to remember Allah with one voice, but rather to remember the blessings of Allah upon them, such as the blessing of Islam, the health of the body, security, and the like. For remembering the blessings of Allah is part of remembering Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Thus, there is evidence in this for the virtue of people sitting to discuss the blessings of Allah upon them. For this reason, some of the Salaf, when they passed by their brother or when their brother came to them, would say: "Sit with us so that we may believe for a while" meaning: Sit with us so that we may remember the blessings of Allah upon us until our faith increases. This indicates the virtue of this gathering. We ask Allah to gather our hearts and your hearts upon His remembrance, His thanks, and the excellence of His worship.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Mu'awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) came to an assembly in the mosque and asked them: "What has made you sit together?" They replied, "We are sitting here to remember Allah." He said, "I adjure you by Allah to tell me whether nothing else has made you to sit together." They replied: "By Allah! We are sitting only to remember Allah." Then he said, "I did not adjure you because I suspected you. No one of my rank in the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is the narrator of so few traditions as I am. The fact is that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out to a circle of his Companions and said, 'What has made you sit there?' When they replied that they are sitting together to remember Allah and to praise Him for guiding them to Islam and bestowing favours on them, he (ﷺ) said, 'I adjure you by Allah to tell me that nothing else has made you sit together.' On their reply that there was certainly no other purpose, he (ﷺ) said, 'I did not adjure you because I suspected you, but Jibril (Gabriel) came to me and told me that Allah was talking proudly of you to the angels."' The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
