The reader: And may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Chapter on the Prohibition of Lying. Narrated by Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1542 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1543 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. "
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
We have previously discussed the two verses mentioned by the author (may Allah have mercy on him) at the beginning of this chapter, the Chapter on the Prohibition of Lying. Then he mentioned the hadiths. The hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In this hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned against lying, saying: meaning, stay away from it and avoid it. This encompasses lying in everything. It is not correct for anyone to say that if lying does not involve harm to others, there is no harm in it. This is a false statement because the texts do not contain this condition. The texts warn against lying absolutely. Then the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) explained that lying leads to wickedness, meaning that if a man lies in his speech, the matter continues with him until it leads him to wickedness, and may Allah protect us from that. Wickedness is exiting obedience, rebellion, and disobedience. And wickedness leads to the Fire. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Mutaffifin 83:7-11]
Then he encouraged truthfulness. Yes, then he said:Sahih Muslim 2607c and may Allah protect us from that, meaning from the liars. Because if a person habituates himself to lying, he will lie in everything, and the description of exaggeration will apply to him, and he will be recorded by Allah as a liar. And if
As for truthfulness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) encouraged it, saying: If you speak, then speak the truth. Sunan Abi Dawud 4989Sahih (Al-Albani) Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Mutaffifin 83:18-20] If a person tells the truth and his tongue becomes accustomed to truthfulness, it leads him to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise, meaning it leads to it. And a man continues to tell the truth and seek truthfulness until he is recorded by Allah as one who is truthful.
And being truthful is a high rank, which is the rank immediately following the rank of prophethood, as Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:69] Know that the sin of lying is multiplied according to what it leads to. Lying in transactions is more severe than lying in mere reporting. If a man lies in his buying and selling, taking and giving, this becomes more severe because if he lies in buying and selling, the blessing of his sale is obliterated. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1532a And whatever results from lying in buying and selling, such as an increase in the price or an increase in the item sold, is illicit, and may Allah protect us from that, because it is based on falsehood, and falsehood is invalid, and whatever is built upon the invalid is invalid.
Similarly, lying in describing the merchandise. A person says, for example, that this merchandise has such and such desirable qualities, and he is lying. This is also consuming wealth by falsehood. Among this is what car dealers do under the microphone, as they say. A person gives his car to this dealer under the microphone, and he knows that it has such and such a defect, but when displaying it for sale, he says there is no defect in it and does not reveal the true defect. This is forbidden and not permissible if the seller knows the defect but conceals it and tells the buyer to be patient with any defect. This is forbidden if he knows there is a defect. But if he does not know, but fears there might be a defect he is unaware of, there is no harm in requesting exemption from any unknown defect. And success is from Allah.
He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Chapter on the Prohibition of Lying. Narrated by Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is recorded with Allah as a truthful man. Falsehood leads to transgression and transgression leads to the Hell-fire. A man continues to speak falsehood till he is recorded with Allah as a great liar.
And from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whosoever possesses these four characteristics, is a sheer hypocrite; and anyone who possesses one of them, possesses a characteristic of hypocrisy till he gives it up. (These are:) When he is entrusted with something, he proves dishonest; when he talks, he tells a lie; when he makes a covenant, he acts treacherously; and when he quarrels, he utters foul language.

Beware of lying.
إياكم والكذب(7) No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. (8) And what can make you know what is sijjeen? (9) It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. (10) Woe, that Day, to the deniers, (11) Who deny the Day of Recompense.
كلا إن كتاب الفجار لفي سجين وما ادراك ما سجين كتاب مرقوم ويل يومئذ للمكذبين الذين يكذبون بيوم الدينThen he encouraged truthfulness. Yes, then he said:

And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.
ومن يطع الله والرسول فأولئك مع الذين أنعم الله عليهم من النبيين والصديقين والشهداء والصالحين وحسن أولئك رفيقاBoth parties in a business transaction have the right to annul it so long as they have not separated; and if they speak the truth and make everything clear they will be blessed in their transaction; but if they tell a lie and conceal anything the blessing on their transaction will be blotted out.
