Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the dislike of cursing the rooster:
From Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not curse the cock, for it awakens for prayer. لا تسبوا الديك، فإنه يوقظ للصلاة
Sunan Abi Dawud 5101Sahih (Al-Albani)
Abu Dawud narrated it with a sound chain.
Chapter on the prohibition of a person saying, "We have had rain by such-and-such a constellation":
From Zayd ibn Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer at al-Hudaybiyyah after rain that had fallen during the night. When he finished, he turned to the people and said: "Do you know what your Lord said?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "He said: 'Among My servants this morning is one who believes in Me and one who disbelieves. As for the one who said, "We have had rain by the bounty of Allah and His mercy," that one believes in Me and disbelieves in the stars. And as for the one who said, "We have had rain by such-and-such a constellation," that one disbelieves in Me and believes in the stars.'"

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author said -may Allah have mercy on him- in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on the prohibition of cursing the rooster":
The rooster is the male of the chicken, and it has a voice that calls out, waking the sleeper. Some of them call out at specific times, at the times of the prayers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded whoever hears the voice of the rooster to ask Allah for His bounty. If you hear the voice of the rooster, say: "I ask Allah for His bounty," for it has seen an angel.
Some roosters call out at the entry of the time, or near the entry of the time, waking people for prayer. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited cursing it for this distinction by which it is distinguished, just as killing the ant was prohibited, for it had shown its sisters the way to safety from Sulayman (peace be upon him).
This is part of the perfect justice of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), that some animals which have a benefit for the servants have a distinction and excellence over others.
Cursing the rooster may happen from some people; they are startled by its voice while sleeping, so they curse and abuse it. This is prohibited, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not curse the rooster لا تسبوا الديك
.
In this hadith is evidence that it is recommended for a person to take what wakes him for prayer, such as alarm clocks. A person should acquire one of these clocks to wake him for prayer at the time in which he can catch the prayer. Many people are negligent in this matter; they sleep relying on the fact that they will wake up at the time they want, but sleep overcomes them. So if you know this about yourself, set an alarm for yourself to wake you for prayer, "for that which is not completed except by it is commanded", and you will be rewarded for this.
