I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done: This means you seek refuge in Allah from the evil of what you have done, because a person does good and is rewarded, and does evil and is punished.

The Shaykh :
I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what I have done
Sunan Abi Dawud 5070Sahih (Al-Albani)
And if they turn away - then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins
[Al-Ma'idah 5:49]
, so you seek refuge in Allah from the evil of what you have done.
Then:
I acknowledge Your blessing
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5522Sahih (Darussalam)
: This means I acknowledge Your great, numerous blessings which I cannot count.
And I acknowledge my sin.
: I acknowledge it,
So forgive me فاغفر لي
-this is the witness-
so please bestow Your Forgiveness upon me. No doubt, You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7387, 7388
: So strive to memorize this supplication, and preserve it morning and evening,
If you die during your day, you are among the people of Paradise, and if you die during your night, you are among the people of Paradise
.
Then he mentioned other hadiths, among them the hadith of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him):
Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), narrated that: When he finished the prayer, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would pray for forgiveness three times and say: 'Allahumma anta asalam, wa minka as-salam tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wal-ikram (O Allah, You are the source of eace (or the One free from all faults) and from You comes peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor)." أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا انصرف من صلاته استغفر ثلاثاً ، وقال : اللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام تباركت يا ذا الجلال والإكرام
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1337Sahih (Darussalam)
: When he finished, meaning when he said the taslim, the first thing you do when you say the taslim from the obligatory prayer is to say: I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah. How do you say: I seek forgiveness from Allah, when you have prayed and performed an act of obedience?
Because your obedience is not free from deficiency and fault, so you seek forgiveness from Allah the Exalted for the fault that occurred in it.
Similarly, the scholars who engage in night prayer, when they finish their tahajjud, they seek forgiveness, as He the Exalted said:
and those who seek forgiveness in the last hours of the night والمستغفرين بالأسحار
.
And you say:
Allahumma antas-salam, wa minkas-salam
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 298Sahih (Darussalam)
: You are Peace, meaning free from every deficiency and flaw,
and from You comes peace ومنك السلام
: meaning from You comes safety, for were it not for Allah Mighty and Majestic, we would not be safe, nor work, nor stand, nor sit.
You are blessed, O One of Magnificence and Generosity.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1512Sahih (Al-Albani)
: And it does not contain "and You are Exalted"; in this context it does not contain: and You are Exalted, but in other hadiths in another context it does contain it, whereas in this one it was not mentioned.
O Possessor of Majesty and Honor (Yā Dhal-Jalāli wal-Ikrām)
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3525Sahih (Darussalam)
: Meaning Your good, blessings, and favors upon Your servants have become great.
So a person should seek forgiveness after the prayer three times, three times for the obligatory prayer, and say: O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes peace, Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, and he should recite what has been transmitted of the dhikr.
And, if Allah wills, the rest of the discussion will follow what the author mentioned.
