It is not permissible to swear by prayer or by one's honor
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible to swear by saying to one's brother: "By your honor" or "By your prayer," or by saying: "You are in a difficult situation if you do such and such"? Such customs are widespread among women and children. We ask for guidance. May Allah reward you with good.
A: It is not permissible to swear by prayer, nor by one's honor, nor by a difficult situation, nor by anything else among created things. Swearing is to be done by Allah alone. So one should not say: "By my honor, I did not do such and such," nor "By so-and-so's honor," nor "By so-and-so's life," nor "By my prayer," nor should one demand of another that he say: "By my honor," or "By my prayer," or "By my zakah." All of this has no basis; because prayer is the action of the servants, and zakah is the action of the servants, and the actions of the servants are not to be sworn by.
Rather, swearing is by Allah alone, (Glorified and Exalted is He), or by His attributes, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 2679 It is agreed upon as authentic. And due to his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Musnad Ahmad 329Sahih (Darussalam) Al-Ahmad narrated it with a sound chain from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud narrated it with a sound chain from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the wording: Riyad as-Salihin 1711 And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 3253Sahih (Al-Albani).
So it is obligatory for every believing man and woman to be cautious of that and not to swear except by Allah alone, (Glorified and Exalted is He). So one should say: "By Allah, I did not do such and such," or "By Allah, I did not do such and such," when the need arises.
And it is prescribed to guard one's oath and not to swear except for a need. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ma'idah: 89]. But when the need arises, one swears and says: "By Allah, I did not do such and such," if he is truthful, or "By Allah, I did not go to so-and-so," or "By Allah, I did not go to so-and-so." If he is truthful, there is no blame on him; because this is swearing by Allah, (Glorified and Exalted is He), when there is a need for it.
As for swearing by trust, or by the Prophet, or by the Ka'bah, or by so-and-so's life, or by so-and-so's honor, or by my prayer, or by my honor, it is not permissible as mentioned previously due to the previous hadiths. As for if he says: "It is in my trust," this is not an oath; meaning this thing is in my trust as a deposit. But if he says: "By my honor," or "By my prayer," or "By my zakah," or "By my father's life," this is not permissible; because it is swearing by other than Allah, (Glorified and Exalted is He). We ask Allah for guidance for all of us.

من حلف بشيء دون الله فقد أشركHe who swears by anyone or anything other than Allah, has indeed committed an act of Kufr or Shirk
من حلف بغير الله فقد كفر أو أشركHe who swears by Amanah (faithfulness) is not one of us.
