Q: It is mentioned in the hadith: that . I hope you will explain this hadith.
A: This hadith was reported in the following wording: From Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:Sunan Abi Dawud 3883Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawud. And amulets are things hung on children to protect them from the evil eye, and they are what some people call "jama'at," "hujub," or "haruz." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:557 And in another narration: .
And the operative cause of hanging amulets being shirk is, and Allah knows best: that whoever hangs them will believe in their benefit and incline toward them, and their desire will turn away from Allah to them, and their reliance upon Allah alone will weaken. All of this is sufficient to condemn them and warn against them. And in the prescribed and permissible means, there is what suffices in place of amulets. And turning one's desire away from Allah to another is shirk with Him. May Allah protect us and you from that.
And hanging amulets is considered minor shirk, as long as the one who hangs them does not believe that they ward off harm by themselves without Allah. If he believes this belief, then hanging them becomes major shirk.
Whoever hangs an amulet has committed shirk.
