Explanation of the hadith: "Your menstruation is not in your hand"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The questioner says: It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to bring him something from the mosque, so I said: I am menstruating. He said:
Your menstruation is not in your hand.إن حيضتك ليست في يدك
Sunan Abi Dawud 261Sahih (Al-Albani)
I hope for an explanation of this hadith, and does this mean that a menstruating woman does not enter the mosque and does not do anything? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

A: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I do not make the mosque lawful for a menstruating woman and for a person who is sexually defiled.إني لا أحل المسجد لحائض ولا جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 232Da'if (Al-Albani)
And Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying or in a state of janabah, except those passing through [a place of prayer]يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَقْرَبُوا الصَّلاةَ وَأَنْتُمْ سُكَارَى حَتَّى تَعْلَمُوا مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلا جُنُبًا إِلا عَابِرِي سَبِيلٍ
[Surat al-Nisa: 43].
So Allah made an exception for the passerby among those in a state of major ritual impurity, and the menstruating woman likewise is not allowed to sit in the mosque, but she is allowed to pass through. There is no harm in the passerby going from one door to another, or entering to take a need from the mosque: a vessel, a book, or something similar. So when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
Get me a mat from the mosque.ناوليني الخمرة من المسجد
Sunan Ibn Majah 632Sahih (Darussalam)
and the khumrah is a prayer mat made of palm fiber on which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray. She said: "She is menstruating," so he said to her:
Your menstruation is not in your hand.إن حيضتك ليست في يدك
Sunan Abi Dawud 261Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
So the meaning is: there is no obstacle to her entering to take the need, so there is no harm in that. What is forbidden is her sitting in the mosque. As for passing through the mosque or entering it for a need and then returning without sitting, there is no harm in that; due to the noble verse and the mentioned hadith.
And success is from Allah.
