Q: The sixth and final message in this episode of from A. A. S. - Ibn Khaldun district says: If a person is sleeping and wakes up and sees water on his clothes, or a trace of water, but he does not know what type it is, and he does not know the difference between semen and other fluids, and he has prayed without taking a bath, then he remembers afterwards that he had a wet dream, what is required of him? Does he have to repeat the prayers he performed?
A: Yes, if he remembers that he had a wet dream and knows that the water is semen, it is obligatory for him to take the bath for major ritual impurity and repeat the prayer he performed after the wet dream and before the bath. As for if he did not remember anything of that, and the water is uncertain to him, not knowing whether it is semen, pre-seminal fluid, or urine, then he washes his clothes out of caution, and the bath for major ritual impurity is not required of him, except if it is most likely in his opinion that it is semen. As for pre-seminal fluid, the clothes are sprinkled with water from it, and urine is washed and wrung out. As for semen, it is pure and it is not obligatory to wash it, but it is recommended to wash it if it is wet, and to rub it if it is dry.
As for if it is due to thinking and caressing during sleep, it is mostly pre-seminal fluid or semen, and they differ: As for semen, the scholars say it has a smell similar to the smell of palm pollen, and it is also known by its thickness, unlike pre-seminal fluid which is known by its thinness. As for wadi, with a silent dal, it occurs after urination connected to it, and its ruling is the same as its ruling.
And success is from Allah.
