Q: Please tell us, if you would be so kind, about what Allah has promised the patient in this world and the Hereafter, and those who work for the Hereafter. You have previously asked about what a person must do regarding this world, the love of it, and its enjoyments?
A: Yes, Allah created the creation to worship Him, meaning to worship Him alone with no partner, to worship Him alone by obeying His commands and refraining from His prohibitions, and by increasing their remembrance of Him. Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Dhariyat: 56]. And His worship is His tawhid (the oneness of Allah) by calling upon Him, fearing Him, hoping in Him, and through prayer, fasting, and other acts, as well as obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions. He has promised them much good and a good outcome in this world, and He has promised them Paradise and honor in the Hereafter. Allah the Exalted said: [Surat Hud: 49], and Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Baqarah 2:155-156] returning to their Lord. Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy, and those are the ones who are guided [Surat al-Baqarah: 155 - 157]. And the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih al-Bukhari 1469.
So the patient has a good outcome in this world and the Hereafter, or he has a good outcome in the Hereafter if he is patient in the taqwa (mindfulness of Allah) of Allah the Exalted and His obedience, and if he is patient with what he is tested with, such as the hardship of life, destitution or poverty, illness, and the settling of some debts. The outcome of patience is good. Allah the Exalted said regarding some of the believers, promising them: [Surat Ali 'Imran: 120]. Patience has good outcomes if one is patient in the obedience of Allah and with the calamities of this world. And if one is upright upon the command of Allah, then he has bliss in the Hereafter. So the patient is at ease in conscience and heart; he struggled against his self for the sake of Allah and was patient with what he was tested with, such as poverty and arduous works. And in the Hereafter, he is in the abode of bliss with faith and taqwa (mindfulness of Allah). And Allah knows best.
A: Yes, Allah created the creation to worship Him, meaning to worship Him alone with no partner, to worship Him alone by obeying His commands and refraining from His prohibitions, and by increasing their remembrance of Him. Allah the Exalted said:
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلا لِيَعْبُدُونِSo be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.
فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ الْعَاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَbut give good tidings to the patient, (156) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience.
ما أعطي أحد عطاء خيرا وأوسع من الصبرSo the patient has a good outcome in this world and the Hereafter, or he has a good outcome in the Hereafter if he is patient in the taqwa (mindfulness of Allah) of Allah the Exalted and His obedience, and if he is patient with what he is tested with, such as the hardship of life, destitution or poverty, illness, and the settling of some debts. The outcome of patience is good. Allah the Exalted said regarding some of the believers, promising them:
And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.
وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا لا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
