A wound on his hand that water does not reach, so he prayed without performing tayammum for it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: If a person performs wudu' and has a wound on his hand that water does not reach, and he is only to perform tayammum for it, but he forgets and prays without performing tayammum, then he remembers while in his prayer, so he performs tayammum without breaking his prayer and continues his prayer, what is the ruling on this prayer? Is it invalid or valid?

A: If there is a wound in one of the places of wudu' and it is not possible to wash it or wipe it because that would cause the wound to worsen or delay its healing, then it is obligatory for this person to perform tayammum. So, if a person performs wudu' leaving the place of the wound and enters into prayer, and he remembers during it that he did not perform tayammum, then he performs tayammum and restarts the prayer; because what passed of his prayer before the tayammum is not valid, including the takbir of ihram, so his entry into the prayer was not valid at all; because purity is a condition for the validity of the prayer.
And leaving a place of wudu' or leaving a part of it means the wudu' is not valid with it. And when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man with a spot on his foot the size of a dirham that water had not reached, he ordered him to repeat the wudu'. And this person about whom the question was asked, when washing and wiping became difficult for him, it became obligatory to move to the alternative, which is tayammum; due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and find no water, then seek clean earthوَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضَى أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَاءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا
[Al-Ma'idah: 6] and the story of the man with the gash. So, in the narration of Ibn Abbas in Ibn Majah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If only he had washed his body and left his head alone where the wound was.لو غسل جسده وترك رأسه حيث أصاب الجرح
Sunan Ibn Majah 572Sahih (Darussalam)
And in the narration of Abu Dawud from Jabir, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It was enough for him to perform tayammumإنما كان يكفيه أن يتيمم
Sunan Abi Dawud 336
the hadith.
So, if this person about whom the question was asked did not repeat that prayer, then he repeats it.
