Delaying the prayer from its time due to work
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: We are workers in a farm. We all pray the obligatory prayers after the mosque, which is about two kilometers away from us, and we do not hear the adhan. We call the adhan and iqamah in the farm, and sometimes we delay the prayer from its time by half an hour for the sake of work. What is the ruling on that?
A: There is no harm in praying in the farm if the mosque is far from you. Likewise, delaying the prayer from the beginning of its time by half an hour or so is not a problem. However, praying at the beginning of the time is better, unless the heat is intense during the Zuhr prayer, in which case waiting for the heat to subside is better. Similarly, if the congregation is late for the Isha prayer from the beginning of the time, the imam should accommodate them. This is based on what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to consider the congregation in the Isha prayer. If he saw that they had gathered, he would hasten, and if he saw that they were late, he would delay. And success is from Allah.
