Discussion of what a person who forgets and wears sewn clothing should do.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The apparent statement of the author is that wearing it is forbidden, whether the time is long or short, and this is indeed the case. Based on this, if a man wears his shirt and trousers believing that he has exited his state of ihram, but it turns out he has not, he must remove them immediately. For example, if a man performs 'Umrah, completes the tawaf and sa'y, then puts on his shirt and trousers, and then remembers that he did not shorten his hair or shave it, what do we tell him? We say: It is obligatory for him to change his clothes immediately, because he is still in his state of ihram, and it is not permissible for one in ihram to wear a shirt, not even for the blink of an eye. However, the removal is delayed only to the extent of custom. For instance, if you are in the mosque, do not run in front of people, or if you are in a car, do not get out and walk two hundred meters. We do not say to do that; we say to do what is customary. Now, if he wants to remove the shirt, is he allowed to remove it from the top or from the bottom? If the opening is wide, or if he cuts it? Currently, there are three possibilities: removing it from the bottom, which is only possible if the opening is wide; cutting it to widen the opening and removing it from the bottom; or removing it in the usual way. If we adopt the last option, it entails that when removing it, he must cover his head, and one in ihram does not cover his head. Therefore, some scholars said that if one wants to remove the shirt he entered ihram in, he should either remove it from the bottom if the opening is wide, or cut it, and he cannot remove it from the top because if he does, he has covered his head. However, this opinion is weak because cutting the shirt damages it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the waste of wealth. Also, the covering here is not intentional, so it is like carrying one's luggage on one's head; in fact, carrying luggage on the head takes longer, and this is only a moment in time. The correct view is that he removes it in the usual way, and he does not need to cut it or remove it from the bottom.
