What is the ruling on using electricity and severe beating when reciting over jinn? And is it permissible to converse with them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: There is a quick, incidental question here. Many people who recite over jinn—reciting over a person who is afflicted by jinn—some of them use electricity and severe beating. And some of them then command them to come out, and they come out. But there are people who do these things, yet the jinn does not come out except dead; they beat it until it dies. I mean, this jinn, these jinn, come out saying from its right or left side, they beat it with a nail or something of that sort, and it dies. So, what is the ruling?

The Shaykh: We do not see it as permissible to expand on communicating with the jinn, based on the text of the Noble Qur'an. And the Lord of the Worlds said:
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِنَ الْإِنْسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِنَ الْجِنِّ ...
[Al-Jinn 72:6]
It has become widespread in this time among some people regarding the jinn, under the name of "exorcising the jinn"... it is not praiseworthy. And I believe it is one of the trials of the current era. What preceded this satanic phenomenon was what was called "summoning the spirits." It used to be called, in the fashion of "magnetic summoning," summoning the spirits. This was eliminated with the passage of time, and now communicating with the jinn has taken its place. "Are you a Muslim? Are you a disbeliever? Are you...?" and so on.
Now, this is actually a long discussion, but on the occasion of what I said, that sometimes the jinn depicts that the jinn has come out dead! This is part of the complete misguidance of the jinn for the humans. It is of this sort when the jinn in the possessed person says, "I am a Muslim." What makes this human Muslim know that this is truthful or a liar? Or it says, "I am a Jew, or a Christian, or a Buddhist, or something similar," and all of this has reached us. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as you know from the authentic hadith, said:
or who goes to a fortuneteller and believes what he says, he has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad. مَن أتى كاهنًا فصدَّقَه بما يقول ؛ فقد كفر بما أُنزِلَ على محمد
Sunan Ibn Majah 639Hasan (Darussalam)
And it came in "Sahih al-Bukhari" and others that the human sometimes tells the truth in some prophecies and news. He had a companion from the jinn, and the companion from the jinn ascends to the sky and steals the hearing, then he comes and throws into the ear of his human companion what he heard from the sky of the angels' conversation. He hears a piece of news and adds to it ninety-nine pieces of news from himself, so he lies in the ninety-nine and he is truthful in the one. The Messenger explained, when it was said to him, "We see them sometimes tell the truth," he said:
Yes, this is what they stole. نعم هذا مما سرقوه
and they lie in what they fabricated. So, the jinn fabricates news to mislead the humans. Among the fabrications is the one who says, "I am a human, I am... excuse me, I am a Muslim jinn, I am such and such, I am such and such." And I say, on this occasion, we humans, one of us differs from his fellow human for a year, two years, three, four, and more, and so on. This human does not know that this jinn is a hypocrite, who is being insincere and wants to mislead him. The end of the matter is that it is not permissible except to recite the Qur'an over this possessed person, over this jinn. If it comes out, then good. As for conversing with it, and listening to its speech, and we do not know how this speech is, what the deception in it is. This is one of the trials of this time; therefore, do not believe except in the recitation of the Qur'an only. As for the severe beating that I mentioned, and sometimes the use of electricity, and so on.

The questioner: Shaykh, they use 240-volt electricity.

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah!

The questioner: No, but he tells you, when you asked the group on the basis of debating the issue: I told them that it is not permissible to use. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used musk and said:
Get out, O enemy of Allah! I am the Messenger of Allah. اخرج يا عدوَّ الله أنا رسول الله
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 26:245
They said: For this reason, some jinn are difficult and do not come out except with electricity.

The Shaykh: How does he know that?

The questioner: He says, "We used it on patients."

The Shaykh: It is not permissible, my brother. This jinn is from the unseen world, and we do not know from the unseen world except what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has informed us of. Then there is entrapment now! Women go to these people and they touch them and extend their hands, meaning there is a great scope for fitnah (trial/temptation), so it is not permissible.
Yes.
