Can the response to a supplication be harm to the one making it?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His statement: The response to a supplication may be harm to him?
One may ask Allah for something that harms him; he may ask Allah for a great deal of wealth, or ask Allah for a specific wife, or ask Allah for some children; and he may be harmed by this, due to what has preceded in the knowledge of Allah regarding these things. However, he should seek out what is good and ask his Lord that what He gives him be good for him. He should not be careless. How many wives have destroyed their husbands, how many children have destroyed their fathers, and how much wealth has destroyed its owner. We ask Allah for safety.
