Ruling on a woman dyeing her hair with mays

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
You are asking another question, in which you say: Is it permissible to use mays, which is a chemical substance applied to the hair, causing the hair to have two colors, giving the hair a kind of beauty? This substance does not go away except with the passage of time or by cutting the hair, and it is not removed by any cleaning agent. Naturally, this is done for the husband, not for tabarruj (displaying adornment) before people?

Answer:
We do not know of any impediment to that if it does not dye the hair black. As for if it dyes the hair black, then it is not permissible; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Change this gray hair, and keep it away from blackغيروا هذا الشيب، وجنبوه السواد
So if this mays dyes the hair red, or yellow, then there is no harm in that, if it is pure and contains no najasah (ritual impurity), and is not among the narcotics or intoxicants; then there is nothing wrong with that. If it is a good, pure thing, there is no harm in it, no prohibition in it, and no impurity in it; so there is nothing wrong with it.

The presenter : What about the ghusl (full ritual bath), O Shaykh, if this dye remains on the hair forever .... ?

The Shaykh : This is like the hair oil; it does not prevent it.

The presenter : For example.

The Shaykh : Like what falls on the head from the comb, the hair oil, henna, and the like, it does not prevent wiping, yes.

The presenter : It does not prevent it.

The Shaykh : What is placed on the head from what a woman needs for head adornment, such as henna or another need for the head when twisting her hair and nails; there is no harm in it, it does not prevent it. The women of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe over what they did on their heads of various kinds of hair oils, yes.

The presenter : But does it prevent the water from reaching the original hair?

The Shaykh : The intention is to wipe the head only; the intention is not the roots of the hair, the intention is the wiping, wiping the surface of the head.

The presenter : The hair itself.

The Shaykh : The surface of the head.

The presenter : The surface of the head.

The Shaykh : And if there is on it something of what women need, it does not prevent it, it does not harm.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
