The ruling on a son obeying his father in divorcing his wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Also, a question for our Sudanese brother—a long question as well—summarized as follows: The father dislikes his son's wife and asks how to reconcile. If the father asks his son to divorce his wife, should he fulfill his request, and is that considered dutifulness to parents?
Answer: This also requires detailed consideration:
If the father's request has a valid justification; for example, if the woman is of bad character or bad religion, or for other reasons that necessitate the father's hatred of her; due to her moral deviation, or her bad behavior in the house, or other reasons; then the son obeys his father and divorces her. However, if his father's hatred of her is without reason, or because she is obedient to Allah, good in her religion, chaste in her private parts and toward her husband, then he does not obey him in that. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
It is not what is right to obey him in divorcing his righteous wife simply because she did not please his father.
So the conclusion is: This is a matter of detailed consideration: If his hatred of her is because she harms her parents and does not fulfill her duties toward them, or because of her bad behavior or corrupt character, he obeys his father; because he is helping him to do good. But if she is sound, mindful of Allah, and kind, but the affliction is from his father, then he does not obey his father, so
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
