The Ruling on Giving Charity on Behalf of One Who Died Without Praying or Fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our brother asks this question: Does the charity reach the disbeliever who dies without prayer and fasting, if his children or relatives wish to give charity on his behalf after his death?

Answer:
One who dies a disbeliever is not benefited by anything; their charity does not benefit him, nor does their supplication. If he dies a disbeliever, no charity is given on his behalf, no supplication is made for him, and that charity does not reach him or benefit him; because he died in a state of disbelief, which nullifies deeds and prevents good from reaching him
But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
[Al-An'am: 88], and in the authentic hadith:
When a non-believer does good he is made to taste Its reward in this worldإن الكافر إذا عمل حسنة أطعم بها طعمة في الدنيا
Sahih Muslim 2808b
