Question:
The questioner says: What are the verses that treat envy, and is there a cure other than the Qur'an and ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation), or not? Please inform me regarding my question.
Answer:
Yes, recitation and supplication, supplication and recitation. A person asks his Lord for safety from the evil of every envious person, as He said (Exalted and Majestic is He):[Al-Falaq 113:1] from the evil of what He created * and from the evil of the darkening night as it darkens and from the evil of those who blow on knots and from the evil of an envious person when he envies [Surat al-Falaq: 1-5].
When a person recites this surah and wipes with his hands over his head, face, and chest three times when going to sleep, it is a cure for every ailment, from envy and others. Likewise, it is done at other times, in the morning, at midday, in the afternoon, at any time, but maintaining this practice when going to sleep is better; following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says: [Surat al-Isra: 82] and He says (Glorified is He): [Surat Fussilat: 44].
In the two Sahihs (al-Bukhari and Muslim), it is narrated that a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), passed by a group of Arabs whose leader (their chief) had been bitten by a snake. The pain intensified, and they tried hard to treat him, but healing did not come to him. So they came to the Companions who had passed by them and said: Is there among you a healer? They said: Yes, but you did not invite us when we arrived at your place (you did not host us); we do not recite except for a fee. They agreed with them on a herd of sheep for whoever would recite for him. So one of the Companions recited al-Fatihah (Surat al-Hamd) for him, and he would spit on him and repeat it; so Allah cured him, and he stood up as if he had been released from a bond. They gave them their fee, and they said among themselves: We will not do anything until we go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When they arrived in al-Madinah, they informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said:Sunan Abi Dawud 3418Sahih (Al-Albani) It is permissible for them to take it, so this indicates that reciting the Qur'an contains healing for every ailment, and that there is no harm in taking a fee for recitation. Yes.

Narrated Abu Sa’id Al Khudri: Some of the Companions of Prophet (ﷺ) went on a journey. They encamped with a clan of the Arabs and sought hospitality from them, but they refused to provide them with any hospitality. The chief of the clan was stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake. They gave him all sorts of treatment, but nothing gave him relied. One of them said: Would that you had gone to those people who encamped with you ; some of them might have something which could give you relief to your companion. (So they went and) one of them said: Our chief has been stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake. We administered all sorts of medicine but nothing gave him relief. Has any of you anything, i.e. charm, which gives healing to our companion. One of those people said: I shall apply charm; we sought hospitality from you, but you refused to entertain us. I am not going to apply charm until you give me some wages. So they offered them a number of sheep. He then came to and recited Faithat-al-Kitab and spat until he was cured as if he were set free from a bond. Thereafter they made payment of the wages as agreed by them. They said: Apportion (the wages). The man who applied the charm said: Do not do until we come to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and consult him. So they came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) next morning and mentioned it to him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: From where did you learn that it was a charm ? You have done right. Give me a share along with you.
