The ruling on a man shaking hands with a non-mahram woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner asks: Does shaking hands with a non-mahram invalidate the ablution, given that the woman he shook hands with does not usually shake hands with non-mahrams?

Answer:
A man must not shake hands with a non-mahram woman. As for shaking hands with his mother or his sister, there is nothing wrong with it. However, shaking hands with a non-mahram woman is not permissible, and a woman must not shake hands with a non-mahram man. This is because this handshake is one of the means of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
But I do not shake hands with women.إني لا أصافح النساء
Sunan Ibn Majah 2874Sahih (Darussalam)
And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said:
By Allah, the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never touched the hand of a woman; he only pledged allegiance to them with words.والله ما مست يد رسول الله يد امرأة قط، ما كان يبايعهن إلا بالكلام
.
As for mahrams, there is nothing wrong with shaking hands with his wife, his mother, his sister, or his daughter.
