The Ruling on Shaking Hands with a Non-Mahram Woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How is the shaking of hands to be done, if you please?

Answer:
It is not permissible for a man to shake hands with a non-mahram woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
But I do not shake hands with women.إني لا أصافح النساء
Sunan Ibn Majah 2874Sahih (Darussalam)
And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said:
By Allah, the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never touched the hand of a woman. He only pledged allegiance with them through speech.والله ما مست يد رسول الله ﷺ يد امرأة قط، ما كان يبايعهن إلا بالكلام
Therefore, a man does not shake hands with a non-mahram woman. It is obligatory for her to veil herself from him, and he must not be alone with her either. However, he may greet her with a salam without being alone with her and without shaking hands. As for mahram relatives, there is no harm in shaking hands with his sister, his aunt, or his mother. Yes.
