The ruling on one who forbids his wife to himself for a year and then takes her back

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner (E. M.) is Syrian and resides in Jordan. He says: I forbade my wife to myself for a year, and after one month I took her back. What is the ruling in this matter, O honorable Shaykh? May you be rewarded.

Answer:
If you had intercourse with her, you owe the expiation for zihar. If you took her back into the house but did not have intercourse with her, you owe nothing until the year is completed. If you have intercourse with her before the year is up, you owe the expiation for zihar mentioned in Surat al-Mujadilah, which is freeing a believing slave. If you are unable to do so, you fast two consecutive months. If you are unable to do that, you feed sixty poor people, thirty sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg), before you approach her. Thirty sa', half a sa' for each poor person, meaning: one and a half kilograms for each person, ninety kilograms in total, one and a half kilograms for each person, before you approach her, in the case of inability to free a slave and inability to fast. This is the expiation for zihar. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
