The Ruling on the Zakah of Jewelry and Its Amount

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
His final question says: My wife has some gold jewelry, and we have not paid its zakah for three years. Is zakah obligatory on women's jewelry, and what is the amount?

Answer:
The correct view, according to the stronger of the scholars' opinions, is that zakah is due on it. There is scholarly disagreement among the scholars, but the correct view is that zakah is due on it: twenty-five out of every one thousand. So if it reaches the nisab, it must be purified. The nisab is twenty mithqals, which amounts to ninety-two grams, or eleven and a half Saudi riyals.
So if the jewelry reaches the nisab and a lunar year passes over it, zakah becomes obligatory on it according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. It is given to the poor like all other zakah. You must pay the zakah for the past years. If the woman was aware of this ruling in the past years, she must pay the zakah for those past years. However, if she did not know until recently, she pays the zakah for the future, and praise be to Allah, and Allah forgives the past due to her lack of knowledge. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
