The questioner : The questioner says: I have heard and read in legal books that sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) immediately after the adhan, aloud, is a religious innovation, and that this was not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), despite the fact that some mu'adhdhins in the mosques, may Allah reform them, do this. What is your opinion, O your eminence?

The Shaykh : As for the action of the mu'adhdhins, where they raise their voices in sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) after finishing the adhan, and likewise where they raise their voices in the reported supplication:
O Allah, the Lord of this complete call اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة ...
Sahih al-Bukhari 4719
, this is undoubtedly a religious innovation, and it was not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
And as for if a person says it in secret, there is no doubt that it is a recommended practice, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) commanded responding to the mu'adhdhin, then sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), then supplicating to Allah the Exalted to make the wasilah for His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, whoever does that, His intercession will be granted to him on the Day of Resurrection إن من فعل ذلك حلت له شفاعته يوم القيامة
. As for raising the voice with it in the minarets and connecting it to the adhan, this is a religious innovation.
