Question:
This questioner says in this question: Your Eminence! My question is: What is the meaning of the statement that fasting and the Qur'an intercede for their owner? Does that mean fasting in Ramadan, or the voluntary days? And likewise, the Qur'an intercedes; is that due to frequent, continuous recitation?
Answer:
The Qur'an and fasting, both of them intercede. The Qur'an intercedes for the one who recites it and acts upon it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 2437Sahih (Darussalam) The Qur'an, for the one who acts upon it and adheres to it, will intercede for him on the Day of Resurrection to admit him into Paradise and save him from the Fire.
And likewise, fasting intercedes for the one who perfects it and guards it; it will be an intercessor for him. The one who guards his fasting and perfects it will have it intercede for him. The believer should, during his fasting, guard his fasting from idle talk and obscenity, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1215 And the Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He) says: Riyad as-Salihin 1215.
So the point is: Fasting intercedes for the one who perfects it and guards it, and the Qur'an likewise intercedes for the one who makes lawful what it has made lawful, forbids what it has forbidden, and adheres to its teachings. Yes.

Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: 'I am fasting.'
الصيام جنة، فإذا كان يوم صوم أحدكم؛ فلا يرفث، ولا يفسق، فإن سابه أحد، أو قاتله؛ فليقل: إني صائمEvery act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. He is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb."
So the point is: Fasting intercedes for the one who perfects it and guards it, and the Qur'an likewise intercedes for the one who makes lawful what it has made lawful, forbids what it has forbidden, and adheres to its teachings.
