Yes, and Allah says:
Whoever intercedes for a good causeمَنْ يَشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً حَسَنَةً
[An-Nisa: 85], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in an authentic hadith—narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim, or one of them—:
Intercede and you will be rewardedاشفعوا تُؤجروا
. He interceded for Barirah, who was a freed slave woman. Out of his humility (peace and blessings be upon him), Aisha bought her and set her free. She had a husband who was a slave, but she chose herself and said, “I do not want him.” His name was Mughith, and he loved her very much and used to cry. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his state and his love for her, he went to her and said, “O Barirah, if you were to accept him and be patient with him…” She said, “O Prophet of Allah, are you commanding me or interceding?” She understood. He said, “No, I am not commanding you, but I am interceding.” She said, “I have no need for him.”
