Ruling on distributing wealth among heirs before death

Question:
This questioner says, "Your Eminence, I am asking about those who distribute their estate while still alive, because they see the benefit in doing so for their children?"

Answer:
There is no harm in that if he distributes his wealth among his children; there is no harm. However, it is better that he keeps something for himself that makes him independent of them, keeping something that satisfies his needs. This is because the children may be stingy with him, and he may suffer harm from them. If he leaves the distribution until he dies, that is more complete, because circumstances may differ and change. It is better for him to keep his wealth in his hand until he dies and then bequeath what he wishes of the one-third or less; there is no harm in that. This is the safest course for him. He may divide the wealth among his children and then regret it because they did not fulfill what is required of them regarding his rights.
