Question:
In his second question, he asks: Is there a book by Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) in which he says that there is no eternity in Paradise and Hellfire?
Answer:
Ibn Taymiyyah and the rest of the Salaf all say: The people of disbelief are eternal in the Fire, and the people of faith are eternal in Paradise. This is by the consensus of the people of the Sunnah and the community: that the people of Paradise are eternal forever, with no death in it and no perishing, but rather it is permanent, and its people are permanent.
Some of the Salaf held that the Fire has an end, and that after the passage of ages [al-Naba':23] it has an end and is extinguished, but this is a weak, rejected, and refuted opinion. The position of the majority of the people of the Sunnah and the community is that the Fire is eternal and continuous, never to be extinguished, and its people, namely the disbelievers, are tormented in it eternally. We ask Allah for safety, as Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said in His great Book in Surat al-Baqarah: [al-Baqarah:167] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [al-Ma'idah:37] The Exalted said: [al-Naba':23] until He said: [al-Naba':30] meaning: ages; whenever an age passes, another age follows it.
And the Exalted said: [al-Isra':97] So it is continuous—we ask Allah for safety—and its people are also abiding in it eternally, and they are the disbelievers.
As for the sinners, they have a limit. The sinners among the monotheists have a limit; if they enter it, they will come out of it after being purified. Some of them are forgiven and do not enter it, and some enter it. When they are purified, Allah takes them out of it, and they go to Paradise. No one remains in the Fire and is eternal in it forever except the disbelievers who died upon disbelief in Allah. We ask Allah for safety.

In which they will remain for ages [unending].
Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire.
They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment.
In which they will remain for ages [unending].
So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."
And the Exalted said:
every time it subsides We increase them in blazing fire.
As for the sinners, they have a limit. The sinners among the monotheists have a limit; if they enter it, they will come out of it after being purified.
